Welcome to the Vanguard Experience

Vanguard STEM Academy is not a traditional classroom. Our programs are designed to mirror real-world engineering, consulting, technology, and professional environments. Participants work on authentic projects, collaborate with industry professionals, and are expected to demonstrate professionalism, accountability, initiative, and a commitment to excellence throughout the program.Before submitting your application, please carefully review the expectations below.

Attendance & Participation
  • Attendance is expected for all scheduled classes, workshops, meetings, presentations, and required activities.
  • Programs may include virtual sessions, in-person experiences, guest speakers, executive fireside chats, and presentations.
  • Participants are expected to be present, engaged, and on time.
  • Excessive absences, repeated tardiness, or failure to communicate may result in probation or dismissal from the program.
Academic Expectations
  • Complete all assignments by the established deadlines.
  • Participate actively in discussions, workshops, and team projects.
  • Present your work professionally.
  • Accept and apply feedback.
  • Demonstrate honesty and academic integrity in all work.
  • Participants should expect to dedicate approximately 9–11 hours per week to classes, assignments, independent learning, research, collaboration, and project development.
Professional Conduct
  • Treat classmates, instructors, mentors, partners, and guest speakers with respect.
  • Communicate professionally both online and in person.
  • Work collaboratively and value diverse perspectives.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate leadership.

Technology & Transportation
  • Participants are responsible for ensuring they have reliable internet access.
  • Access to a laptop or desktop computer capable of completing coursework.
  • Ability to install required software and access online learning platforms.
  • Reliable transportation to any required in-person sessions, presentations, site visits, or partner events.
